Diriyah Club Ownership Transfer Finalized; Board of Directors Established
The Diriyah Company completed the transfer of ownership of Diriyah Club on July 12, 2024, from the National Centre for Privatization to Diriyah Company, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company. This transfer forms part of a project announced by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, The Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, in June 2023, aimed at investing in and privatizing sports clubs around the Kingdom. This program aims to support and develop the sports sector and encourage the private sector to contribute effectively to the growth of the sports industry, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The transfer of ownership of Diriyah Club to Diriyah Company will support the realization of the Company’s strategic objectives, including the development and enhancement of the Diriyah region as a cultural, tourism, entertainment, and sporting destination.
The Diriyah Company's Board of Directors, under the esteemed leadership of HRH The Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, played an important role in the establishment of the Diriyah Club Sports Company’s Board of Directors. This significant step, under the leadership of HH Prince Khaled bin Mohammed bin Saud, includes the appointment of the board of directors, including Jerry Inzerillo, Mohamed Al-Khereiji, Ayman Al-Fallaj, and Hamad Al-Butti.
Founded in 1976, The Diriyah Club is preparing to compete in the upcoming 2024/2025 sports season of the second division football league, following the draw that placed them in the second group, as announced by the Saudi Football Federation in June 2024.
